NADCA Responds to the shortest White Paper you’ve ever read.

February 29th, 2024|Categories: Mountain Duct Cleaning|Comments Off on NADCA Responds to the shortest White Paper you’ve ever read.

In December, a member of the HVAC cleaning industry published a white paper that was admittedly a rather short read, even for someone not familiar with our industry: Effects of Negative Air Duct Cleaning on Flex Ducts.  This has triggered frustration and confusion from members of our industry as to whether or not our trade organization NADCA supports the claims within the document.  NADCA was in no way involved with the development or review of this paper and does not support the statement that negative air cannot and should not be used to clean flex duct because of the damage it can cause. It is NADCA’s position that this statement is simply untrue

You can read the white paper here (it wont take long).  In reality, one of the publishers of this White Paper is an equipment manufacturer.  He is trying to convince the industry that the most widely-recognized cleaning method, negative pressure, is dangerous so that more contractors will be lead to find and purchase his own product.  It’s a conflict of interest in the biggest of ways.

Over the years, we have cleaned 1000’s of feet of flex ducting, both with portable electric collection systems and large truck-mounted vacuum systems.  Issues can arise for sure, but negative pressure is not the culprit.  What flex duct requires, is an expert to evaluate its condition and cleanability before sending equipment down there like a bull-in-a-china-shop.  That is where our ASCS and CVI Certifications through NADCA come into play, along with our 25+ years of experience.

What’s in Your Air Ducts?

Be sure to check our blog frequently for stories and pictures of the interesting (and sometimes disgusting) things that we find inside air ducts.

FACTS about Indoor Air Quality and the Health of Your Family

The experts agree: the air inside your home gets dirty, and this can be a serious health threat.

FACT: Most people spend 60% to 90% of their time indoors. (American Lung Association)

FACTIndoor air has been found to contain up to 70 times more hazardous pollutants than outside air. (US Environmental Protection Agency)

FACT: As many as 50 million Americans suffer from allergies; 20.3 million of those have asthma. (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases)

FACT: Pollen, dust, and animal dander are listed among the major triggers for asthma attacks. (American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology)

FACT: 1 out of 6 people who suffer from allergies do so because of their direct relationship to fungi and bacteria in air duct systems. (Better Health Magazine)

FACT: Young children and the elderly are more likely to be affected by polluted indoor air. (US Dept. of Consumer Affairs)

10 reasons to be concerned about your home’s Indoor Air Quality.

  1. Has there been recent construction or remodeling in the home?
The construction and remodeling process often leaves lots of debris in the air duct system. This goes for both new construction and recently remodeled homes.
  2. Are you trying to sell your home?
Freshly cleaned ducts could make your home more appealing to potential buyers!
  3. Have you recently purchased your home?
You clean the rest of the house when you move in right? Don’t live with the former owner’s dirt in your ducts!
  4. Does anyone in your home have allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues?
Dust, dander, and micro-organisms in your duct system can be circulated throughout your home and cause attacks from any of these conditions.
  5. Does anyone in the home suffer from nasal or sinus congestion each night or morning?
Snoring can be another side-effect of a dusty home.
  6. Are there smokers in the home?
If you or a former resident used to smoke within your home, the residue can still be circulated throughout your home for years to come.
  7. Do you have dogs, cats or other pets?
Our furry little friends not only shed but can also carry in lots of dirt from outside the home. You can see it on your floors… trust us, it’s in your ducts too.
  8. Does it seem like you’re always dusting the furniture?
An air duct system filled with dirt and debris can sometimes contaminate your home faster than you can clean it!
  9. Do you notice any unusual odors when the heating or cooling system is running?
Odors can be a sign of something dangerous in your air ducts. We can do camera inspections to determine if there is something of concern in your system.
  10. Are there young children or elderly living in your home?
People of these age groups are much more susceptible to airborne contaminants.

Great from inquiry to invoice!

February 20th, 2021|Categories: Testimonials|0 Comments

Mountain Duct Cleaning was great to work with from inquiry to invoice. Matt Mountain responded to my inquiry the same day with a competitive quote and advised the schedule. On cleaning day, Lucas arrived on-time and politely walked me through the process. He took before and after pictures to show the results. He also saved me some money by advising against some additional services (that I requested) based on his findings. I will use Mountain Duct Cleaning again.

So Impressed and Grateful!

February 18th, 2021|Categories: Testimonials|0 Comments

I have never in my life been so impressed and grateful!! The two gentlemen were amazing and answered all my questions plus gave me tips. My vents were absolutely disgusting due to contractors being lazy and sweeping everything into the vents throughout my house. My son has been dealing with respiratory issues since November and my hope was this was the cause. Since the cleaning my son is no longer weezing or showing allergy symptoms. I am so thankful for their service and how quickly they scheduled me and completed the work. Multiple doctors and medications for my son are no longer a concern. He is doing amazing!!!!!! The price was super reasonable and I wouldn’t have been upset if I had paid more! The owner, Matt was also incredible. . Thank you guys so much!!
